Scientists ‘should take ethics oath like doctors’

“Scientists need their own version of the Hippocratic oath and a regulation system similar to doctors to avoid a big scandal, the head of their standards body in Britain has said. There have been a number of cases in which scientific papers have had to be retracted because of unethical or outright fraudulent behaviour. Last October the British Medical Journal reported that a landmark paper on the benefits of hypoallergenic baby milk, which led to policy changes in health services around the world, was based on fabricated data.”
