Decision of the Medical Practitioners Board of Victoria:Medical Practice Act 1994 (‘the Act’) to caution Dr Larkins, with regard to allegation 1(e), that is his failure to keep adequate medical records for all patients.”

The Panel determined pursuant to section 45A(2)(d) of the Act to reprimand Dr Larkins with regard to allegations 1(a), (b), (c) and (d). The Panel reprimands Dr Larkins:

  • for inappropriate prescribing of large quantities of a drug of dependence, namely Ritalin, that was not medically warranted
  • for not recognising the patient’s drug-dependent behaviour
  • for not making adequate enquiries as to whether or not Mr GT was drug-dependent
  • for not having an appropriate treatment plan for Mr GT
